I like these days when even though you know you have work to do because you have more time on your hands you have time to appreciate things, and you are not doing everything in a rush, calculating how long it is gonna take you to do the shopping for example.
So there I was this afternoon, sat by the river, looking at the books I had just received, and enjoying the view while Englishi was playing with a tennis ball. Yeah he has free time on his hands too these days..
I always take the afternoon off after teaching and we usually end up either in town or playing on the quizz machine at some point on Wednesdays, and yes, this Wednesday was our lucky day...
We beat the machine or should I say machines, won game after game, Deal or no deal, Cops and robbers, Battleships, Cluedo etc. and I like to think that I made the difference on Cluedo because yes, admittedly, it was the Englishi who was answering most questions, but he would not have won the 20 quids if I hadn't guessed in a stroke of genius both the murderer and the weapon (and right, true, I didn't have anything to do with the finding of the room :p ) * thank you froglet *
today he wants to be a policeman
"There's a woman who gets on my bus whose got a tete id like to claque! u shud cum one day and take a photo of her for Lu. Maybe offer her a poptart?"
I was inspected for the first time today. It went alright, or I think it did.
I did rearrange my plan while she was in the room and jumped to sections where students were expected to participate but hey that's what is expected really.
I was a bit worried when I started the class to see only two students there, two who weren't there last week so two who wouldn't know what I was talking about and who wouldn't be able to do the exercises I had planned
It could have gone really wrong but it didn't because other students showed up and they did participate and managed to do what I was asking for, it looked lively, interactive, in a word good :D
Rainy night, sunny day!
I woke up at 8, had breakfast at 8.45, tea and what looked like croissants.
We left round 9.15 to go shopping ! the englishi was gonna join us later, he wanted to take a bath, ah well I understand, I can't blame him, I miss taking baths too!
we only had the time to do a few, but massive, shops before we went looking for a pub who was showing the Liverpool / Man United match. Surprisingly, not that many pubs were showing it, even though it was the most important game of the season for Liverpool said the englishi. Eventually, we found the O'neills in Carnaby street, it was busy but not packed yet, and we managed to find a good seat. We watched the beginning of the match, sipping on "fresh" cokes before we decided that a much better plan for sis and I was actually to go shopping.
Liverpool lost and well it was the most important game of the season the englishi had said, plus the eternal rivalry between ManU and Liverpool on top of it, we' ve been robbed moaned an upset Englishi. Not even a hot chocolate or a cookie could make it up for it.
Ah well, I am glad I'm not a big fan, that didn't ruin my week end, more shops (found a jacket and a dress each - exactly the same model size and colour ^o^), a nice long walk from the centre to Waterloo station, witnessing as Indian parade, sipping on teas offered along the way, and taking lots of pictures of London in the semi darkness.
Then came the time to say goodbye and to go home on different trains :'(
Sunny day!
Took the train round 11, went straight to the hotel and had lunch there - lovely sandwiches made by me ^o^ -
Took a day ticket valid till 4.30 and went to visit a couple of things. I have living in England for four years now and I was the tourist ..
London eye, Big ben - the Englishi had to have a crepe-, House of Parliaments, St Paul, Hyde Park.
When we got there it started raining, the timing was good, we were heading home. Then it started to rain really hard as we were walking back passed Oxford Street. The shops were still opened so sis and I went there and the Englishi who wanted to go home waited for us in Starbucks instead - minty hot chocolate and chocolate shortbread cookie have ways to cheer him up and keep him happy -
We went back to the hotel, everybody was really tired, we were supposed to just have a break before going out for dinner again but the englishi fell asleep, tragic little nap that became a big dodo. I felt bad to wake him up, he wasn't feeling very well. So sis and I went back out, in China town and had dinner there yum yum.
heavy rain, funny pictures in the restaurant, loud english people celebrating something, two frenchgirls a few tables away from ours, big big portions, sweet and sour chicken, egg fried rice, happy piggy year !
Back at the hotel we found the englishi still asleep, luckily in the small bed heehee
I had to take a bath, I wasn't going home for Easter and I don't have one here. Boy I enjoyed it!
More giggles, more photos and I could feel that I was gonna sleep really well and more importantly very quickly!
Instead of just doing some corrections or just surfing on the net, a student came to see me, to discuss the next essay and linguistics in general.
- sunny but windy -
