The Mascott family is expanding!
We are happy to welcome two new occupants,
Meet petit Thing and petite Thing !
The one thing you want most is the one thing you can't have
I want to go shopping with lu and the photocopies, it is the first day of sales in Paris today!
I love mornings
Im drinking tea and eating some home made cheesecake my flatmates made, how very English of me!
It is my first morning back in England. I had a very French breakfast with coffee, French baguette (as in real French baguette, not English French baguette if you see what I mean) with nutella this morning before switching onto the English mode.
I spent the morning cleaning, I don't feel like working quite yet, and the good thing is that my room is now sparkling, I used the eau de javel and ajax I brought from home. I could use English products I know but just like I don't go to the hairdresser, the dentist or the doctor here, I don't really use English cleaning products either. Matter of habit.
Bon voyage!
It's time to go home. A last trip to Champion to get the sacred lemon coke and we're off to the station Gare du Nord to ship me back to the pays des roastbeefs.
Done! ou presque..
Two boules coupées, and two banettes, "bon retour" said la boulangère.
I got some danettes too, but shock shock horror no lemon coke!! just some orange 'salsa' coke sitting next to some 'coca black' on a pretty empty shelf. There were some yesterday so I'm sure I'll find some tomorrow.
Anyhow, there is always another champion or auchan ..
The list..
Almost 9am, time to go to the boulangerie with the 'photocopies' to get the nice bread we ordered (yea yea to make sure I would have some to bring home!): une boule coupée and some baguettes yum yum. Then Champion! for some lemon coke!! highly wanted / needed over there and some danette, a delicacy..
1st cheque! almost perfect, if "only" ...
Woohoo big day today, after four years in Enlishiland, I got to write my first cheque :D
To uni, for the LangUE conference in July. I thought it was time to start checking these out!
Good thing that I had the Englishi, my personal banker, to check that my first cheque was perfect, here we do dots after the amounts in pounds, not commas. Commas are used if you write a cheque for a £1,000, however you'll write a £17.00 cheque
Weird isn't it
and additionally to the wavy line that you draw after the amount written in letters you should always write the word 'only', which I didn't know about so which I didn't write. Ah well.. there is always next time
Lazy Sundays...
No alarm but still, awake at 9! Well done me! It's good, still time for a nice morning ahead.
It's Mother's Day today in France.
I corrected the exam papers this morning from the course I tought this year. They trusted me with 15scripts heehee.
And then I watched some Friends. Breakfast in front of Gilmore girls, croissants au chocolat and tea that the Englishi lovingly prepared. It was also time for some active Harry Potter reading (we are rereading the Goblet of Fire at the moment, a page each when Englishi is not trying to steal my lines).
Later that day, we played pool, ahh I love Sundays like that ..
edit: overall the exam papers were quite good, I had to fail one but I also put a few really really good marks.
I read some funny things too, hehe is that sad to realise that I can now laugh at what people write about morphology or syntax, makes me look really geeky doesn't it!
