I smell snow...

dimanche 23 novembre 2008 à 16:46

The first taste of snow, it sprinkled all over the North and East of England. Everything's magical when it snows, everything looks pretty. The perfect ending for a week end in winter wonderland. It snowed for a couple of hours, massive snowflakes like big cotton balls, before it turned into icy rain.

Lorelai: (to herself) The world changes when it snows. It's quiet. Everything softens.
Michel: It's your mother.
Lorelai: And then the rain comes.

Ce matin au réveil..

mercredi 27 février 2008 à 10:18

Nan c'est des blagues, I still have a roof on my head :)
Mais see you don't need to go to a faraway land to get an earthquake, we have them too, right here, oh yes, the biggest in the UK in 25 years (measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale),and we didn't feel it here, which is weird seeing as the epicentre was in Lincolnshire and people were woken as far away as Wales, or maybe I just slept through it ' ^ ^ (it hit shortly before 1am) naah Im a light sleeper, I get woken up by a text I can't believe I would sleep through an earthquake

A pinch and a punch for the first day of the month ...

mercredi 1 août 2007 à 10:12

A kick and a flick for being so quick !

We enjoy our little rituals with Englishi with actions to match of course ^ ^

This is what little englishis traditionally tell each other at school on the first day of the month.
There are lots of variants, I especially like these A kick and a flick… for being a dick/prick/so thick.
I've just found out that the first to say it can then reply A Kick in the toe for being so slow, hehe maybe Englishi doesn't know, he is always the quickest so he always gets to say the first half.
I'll have to make sure I'm the first one to say it next time! See you on the first of September!

Game on Englishi!!

1st cheque! almost perfect, if "only" ...

dimanche 3 juin 2007 à 22:10

Woohoo big day today, after four years in Enlishiland, I got to write my first cheque :D
To uni, for the LangUE conference in July. I thought it was time to start checking these out!
Good thing that I had the Englishi, my personal banker, to check that my first cheque was perfect, here we do dots after the amounts in pounds, not commas. Commas are used if you write a cheque for a £1,000, however you'll write a £17.00 cheque
Weird isn't it
and additionally to the wavy line that you draw after the amount written in letters you should always write the word 'only', which I didn't know about so which I didn't write. Ah well.. there is always next time
